More than 300 German and international experts and civil society actors gathered on 12 January 2010 to discuss the future role of agricultural trade in the tension of the climate, food and economic crisis.
The conference "EcoFair rules!" offered a forum to all those who want to talk about socially and ecologically sustainable ways out of the hunger crisis. The participants stressed that the human right to food had finally become an important yardstick of global negotiations on climate change and world trade. Experts like Olivier De Schutter, UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, and Rajeswari Raina, co-author of the report of the International Agricultural Development (IAASTD), provided important motivation.
