First part focuses on the current state of food security in Kenya, main indicators and key negative factors influencing the situations of poor Kenyans. There are economic factors such as poverty, price volatility, poor infrastucture or underfinanced agricultural sector; political factors include political instability, land grabbing and high number of refugees due to the political situation in Eastern Africa; environmental aspects cover climate change, conflicts over resources and inappropriate farming methods. Second part is dedicated to the agricultural production of main crops as well as cash crops and agricultural challenges. Third part presents the economic relations between Kenya and the EU and negative impacts of the Economic Partnership Agreement which is being negotiated.
